Aerial footage sells a property, resort or campus faster than anything else we shoot — and it is also the part of a shoot most likely to get stopped on the day. Here is how drone work actually functions in and around Dehradun.

Know which zone your location sits in

India's airspace map classifies areas as green, yellow or red. Much of central Dehradun sits under the Jolly Grant approach corridor and defence-adjacent pockets, which means yellow-zone clearance rather than a free flight.

Before quoting, we check the location against the airspace map and tell the client plainly whether aerials are possible, restricted to a lower ceiling, or off the table.

02 / 05

The paperwork that matters

A compliant shoot needs a registered drone with a UIN, a certified pilot, third-party insurance, and written permission from the property owner. Yellow-zone work needs prior air-traffic clearance.

For campuses, forests and heritage sites, add the institution's or forest department's own permission — that is usually the slower of the two approvals, so we start it first.

03 / 05

Where the good Dehradun aerials actually are

Mussoorie Road switchbacks, the Doon valley bowl from Sahastradhara, Maldevta river beds, Thano forest, Asan Barrage and the Yamuna belt near Dakpathar. These give scale without fighting restricted airspace.

City-core aerials over Rajpur Road or Clock Tower are possible only in narrow, approved windows — usually early morning with a low ceiling and a spotter on the ground.

04 / 05

How we plan a flight day

One pilot, one spotter, always. Batteries charged for eight flights minimum. A shot list ordered by light direction, not convenience. A ground-level plan B for every aerial shot, because weather in the valley changes within an hour.

In monsoon we schedule aerials in the first two hours after sunrise; that is the most reliable window between mist and afternoon build-up.

05 / 05

Shots that consistently earn their cost

A slow reveal that starts on a detail and pulls back to the whole property. A top-down of a road or river for a transition. A single orbit at building height for real estate. A push-in over a canopy for hospitality.

What rarely earns its cost: long, aimless high-altitude flying. Two great aerials beat twelve average ones in every edit we have delivered.

/ FAQ

Quick answers

Can you fly a drone in Dehradun city?

In some areas yes, with clearance — much of the city sits in restricted airspace due to the airport corridor, so we confirm zone status before confirming aerials.

Do you have licensed drone pilots?

Yes — registered drones, certified pilots and insurance, with permissions filed for yellow-zone locations.

How much does a drone shoot cost in Dehradun?

Drone coverage is usually an add-on of ₹12,000–25,000 per day depending on location, permissions and whether cinema-grade aerials are required.
